Criteria for Contact Hour/CEU Requirements

In order for a Conference Session to be offered for ASHA CEUs and/or ALTA Contact Hours, please see attached submittal guidelines. No personal interest session or product sales will qualify.

NOTE: As a presenter of a session offered for ASHA and/or ALTA CEU’s, you may claim credit for your own session, earning the same amount of credit as participants.

Accessibility

The 2022 Conference is committed to making the conference accessible and working to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Presenters that need special accommodations or equipment in order to participate should contact Sheri Mistretta at sherim@light.foundation.

Oral Presentations

Seminar presentations are intended to provide in-depth, continuing education for speech- language pathologists, audiologists, language therapists, dyslexia specialists and/or speech- language-hearing scientists. Emphasis is on clinical applications and research advances, backed by appropriate levels of evidence. Content is specifically tailored to fit a 60, 90 or 120 minute time period.

Poster Presentations

Poster presentations should visually guide viewers through the basics of the study displayed on the poster board while the presenter focuses on the explanation and clarification of the key elements of the work and answers viewers questions. The poster presentation format is less formal and more interactive than an oral seminar. Though poster presentations must be displayed for the entire day, poster presenters are only required to be present at their poster board during the assigned time of their presentation. This is the only time during which participants can earn ASHA and/or ALTA CEU’s.

Conflict of Interest Disclosures and Call for Papers Agreement

For consideration, anyone presenting or listed as an author for presentation, is required to complete a disclosure indicating any financial or non-financial relationship to the content of the session.

Speaker Disclosures

Presenters of oral presentations should begin their session with a slide and verbal statement indicating their adherence to the agreement and disclosing any potential conflicts. Poster presenters should include a similar written statement within their visual presentation.

Room Setup and Audiovisual Equipment

Oral session rooms are set for maximum participation with basic presentation tools. Each room is set theater-style for maximum capacity, with a standing podium with microphone. Please advise Conference Committee if you are bringing your own computer with uploaded presentation or require a computer to be available to you and bringing presentation on your own flash drive. Though the Westport Sheraton Chalet Hotel offers complimentary basic wireless Internet, hard- wired Internet access for presenters is not provided in session rooms.

Each room is equipped with:

  • Projection equipment appropriate to the size of the room
  • A screen appropriate to the size of the room

Handouts

This will be a paperless conference and no handouts will be available onsite. All handouts will be available on the conference website and should be downloaded prior to the start of each session. To meet the educational needs of attendees, we are asking that presenters email a 2 page advance material (by August 29, 2022) which should include a functional outline of the presentation and a list of references or links related to the final presentation. Final versions of electronic handouts must be submitted to upload onto conference website no later thanSeptember 6, 2022.
